Im Back
Well I havent posted in a long time, mostly because I know NO One reads this LOL. Today I wanted to post about making your own baby food. The rock star is eating A Lot and the organic jars were getting expensive, so we needed to get cooking. What a suprise at just how easy it really is. Seriously! I'm so excited about it because of the variety that he can now eat, and not be confined to a jarred menu. This weekend I made carrots, zuchini, and apples. Today I made chicken and sweet potatoes. So what makes this easy? Here's my essential tools. #1 Rice cooker for steaming everything. #2 an awesome Blender #3 ice cube trays and little freezable cups with lids. that's really it oh and some plastic wrap and zippy plastic bags. That is it. Nothing fancy and I didnt even have to buy anything so that made Dad super happy. So here's what I do, fill up the rice cooker with 4 cups of water, push the steam button. Put whatever youre cooking in the steemer basket, close the lid and go be a mom for a while. 15 minutes or so later: whenever the food is soft to the touch, turn off the rice cooker and let it cool. Then dump it in the blender and puree with water. Next I pour the puree into ice cube trays, cover with plastic wrap and freeze. I label the top with food and date too. Then freeze. Right no I only have 2 ice cube trays so when the food's frozen I pop it out and transfer to a zippy bag so I can use the tray for something else. So yeah it's easy and it's a really cool feeling to see your rock star eating and loving foods you made yourself :)
